Do you operate a business which employs members of a compulsory trade under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009? The Ontario College of Trades strictly enforces statutory requirements relating to the registration and other qualifications of members of these trades, including electricians, mechanics, sheet metal workers, and others.
Improperly employing an unqualified tradesperson can result in a fine of up to $5,000 for the first offence and $10,000 for each subsequent offence. Obstructing an investigator or withholding information from them can result in a fine of up to $10,000 upon conviction.
If you are an individual or operate a corporation charged with a violation of the Act, contact us to discuss a potential defence strategy.
